With the tremendous popularity of the bison nickel and also I assume the Kansas quarter will be popular too, can't the powers that be see that americans like the idea of animals of our culture to be placed on our coinage instead of dead presidents? The people are crying out but nobody is listening or cares. And why the hell does the law make it mandatory that Monticello be on the nickel? I would rather have the bison become the regular design.

Why Monticello? That is easy. It graced the coin from 1938 through 2003. No one wants to stand up and ask for anything else.

It has been recommended by the Mint that no more Bison/Buffalo designs be sugggested for the State Quarter program. While I agree that it is a good design, I for one am hoping for artistic "new" designs. Something that represents the state while pleasing to the eye.
