Excluding members that were active but aren't anymore, leave after their 4th or 5th post, or are banned, I say we can narrow it down some, but we'd still have hundreds or even several thousands left :)

I'm not Canadian, I started collecting when I was 21 with a bag of coins from working in the US and gone to Spain five months before the Euro came out, exciting times what with the State Quarters n'all.

That was 10 years ago and I have amassed too many coins, but not enough, if you know what I mean.

I'm 31, or 32 or 33 in China, as they are born at 1 year old and then they become 2 at spring festival (chinese new year), so you can be 2 years old after a week!! And 23 when you are 21, etc. Never ask how old someone is in china, ask them what year they were born in.

Looking at the graph you gotta ask the question...What happens to collectors at age 31? Do they just give up on it or are they just consumed doing other things?

Jobs, kids, life... I'm sure most collectors will tell you they go through long periods of numismatic-inactivity, but always come back, with a vengance!

Here I am going on to 61 shortly, and started in 1958. As one said earlier, I had to put it on hold for kids, jobs and other things. I started back into it more seriously near the 1990's. I also took a course on collecting put on by Pete Sweeten in the Fraser Valley in the early 1980's. I have enjoyed the hobby and am glad to the spread of ages of other collectors.

As someone who is starting in in their early 50's after leaving in their teens, I am happy to see the amount of younger folks involved.

Just turned 53. I started collecting when I was about 11. I did a lot of roll searching as a kid. I took a long sabbatical while raising my kids and dove back into collecting about 15 years ago. It's great to be back!
