Saw this on ebay. Did I spot an overdate?

UK-Two-Pence-1861---An-Overdate?

There was no mention of it in the description and I didn't find it listed in either the old, or in the new Krause book.

Looks like a 6 over 1 to me. Not sure if this is a listed variety or not. Wait for the experts to chime in. Good eyes

There is an 1861/11 listed here--and it appears that all 1861 2d bear this "mis-dating"(since it's technically not re-dating an older die). It's a pretty strong example--too bad about the hole.

Coincraft 1997 lists it as both without (higher-priced) and with the 6/1.

Surprising that, with a limited issue of 4742 (Maundy and collectors only), there are two versions.

Maddening - someone has ruined a perfectly good coin.

Bill.
