Is some sort of metal that is tarnished, weighs over 1 ounce, says Cimarron's Bank, 1860, Indian T. N.M. I would appreciate any input about this, and possibly what it is worth...thank you so much....Samacy

Well Cimarron was officially chartered in 1859 and New Mexico was a territory at the time. Can I ask where you got this from?

If "1860" is intended to be the date, the style of the letter punches is 20th century.

All I know is that Cimarron is where the Boy Scout high adventure camp Philmont is located. Seeing the name brings back memories....

good morning, thank you for your replies. I found it going through my Dad's things. He found it metal detecting.....He took his metal detector everywhere he traveled. Unfortunately, he has passed, and I don't have any more information about it.

KT
Ingots from this period were poured into rectangular molds, allowed to cool, and later stamped with weight, fineness, etc.
Therefore, you wouldn't see markings that appear cast into the metal; that would be the last step--naturally ingots are weighed after cast, not before. Color appears more like pewter than silver.
