I found this on another forum. Does it sound wrong to anyone else? I never recall hearing about the emphasized parts. Anyone else?

Quote:
By Executive Order Of The President of The United States, March 9, 1933.

By virtue of the authority vested in me by Section 5 (b) of the Act of October 6, 1917, as amended by Section 2 of the Act of March 9, 1933, in which Congress declared that a serious emergency exists, I as President, do declare that the national emergency still exists; that the continued private hoarding of gold and silver by subjects of the United States poses a grave threat to the peace, equal justice, and well-being of the United States; and that appropriate measures must be taken immediately to protect the interests of our people.

Therefore, pursuant to the above authority, I hereby proclaim that such gold and silver holdings are prohibited, and that all such coin, bullion or other possessions of gold and silver be tendered within fourteen days to agents of the Government of the United States for compensation at the official price, in the legal tender of the Government.

All safe deposit boxes in banks or financial institutions have been sealed, pending action in the due course of the law. All sales or purchases or movements of such gold and silver within the borders of the United States and its territories and all foreign exchange transactions or movements of such metals across the border are hereby prohibited.

Your possession of these proscribed metals and/or your maintenance of a safe deposit box to store them is known by the government from bank and insurance records.

Therefore, be advised that your vault box must remain sealed, and may only be opened in the presence of an agent of the Internal Revenue Service.

By lawful order given this day, the President of the United States.

Franklin Roosevelt -- March 9, 1933

Someone with a hidden agenda tampered with the original wording of Executive Order 6102, no mention of silver at all and "subjects" should be individuals, partnerships, associations, and corporations .

Well I thought America was founded on the idea of freedom, free speech, freedom of choice of religion, and capitalism....

Sure seems like everything in that quote goes against all that I figured the country to be founded on. Sure that was not Hitler that said that, lol....

Hence that clever last statement about monarchy's an republics at the very bottom, lol....

We have to follow all the rules the fore fathers laid out and tie us up to be drawn an quartered if not OBEYED, yet the government is exempt to the rules eh....

You know, even though being born an living in the South my entire life, I always have said if I had been like 20 in 1860 I would have joined the Union oddly enough, as otherwise you were just a traitor to the country IMO, whom your first loyalty's lie. Not so sure about that any more. Jackson and Lee felt their loyalty' lied with Virginia and their home an family's. But, if I had been 20 in 1782 towards the end of the revolutionary war, I may have been tared an feathered for staying loyal to the so called crown or country. I guess my point in the end, when it comes down to it, choosing the right side is pretty key eh, rof....

If one had to choose today?

LOL! The United States of America does not have ANY "subjects". We are citizens and not "subjects". The very term, subject, implies that one is ruled by whim and not by law. It also implies that minimal, if any, rights or personal liberty are available to those labeled as subjects. The last time we had subjects in the area wherein the USA now exists, King George III and his minions were in (temporary) control.

That's why I figured it was bogus. I can't imagine that getting by a president and his speechwriters, even if it's true.

Sides Yotie, lol....

Think about the movie Valkyrie....

Those German soldiers that tried to take out Hitler and made the ultimate sacrifice, and one point in a fork in the road moment of their life, they decided the German's that were in charge were corrupt and needed to be removed from power, and that inevitably cost them their lives....

In all likelihood, none of us will never have to make that kind of choice, but you never know....

Not that they wouldn't like it to be true. If ever we had a president who wanted to be King, it is now.
