It is most definitely damaged, what more do you need to know? Errors will always have a known cause but a coin can be damaged in an almost infinite numbers of ways.

I think it looks very interesting. It is a keeper.

How much does it weigh? What are the dimentions?

Something strange may have happened when the planchet was up ended (correct term?) to round the edge.

It looks to me to be metal that has always been there on the edge.

There was an article 6 or 8 months ago, maybe longer (first the mind goes), that was discussing things that happen to the edges of coins in Coin World. I can't find it.

There is nothing to be stumped about here, it is not rocket science. Look closely at the peripheral devices. They are much closer to the rim than they should be and the rim has been folded over those devices- absolute proof of PMD. The coin has seen extensive circulation after the damage took place but that does not change the fact that it is damaged.

if the rim was rolled inwards wouldn't the letters like the 6 be smashed not be part of the copper. The part of the 6 that is not in is is at a completely different level then the part that is in it.

its also not just the 6 but its all the letters that are in it.
