Japan-Charm?

Anyone have any idea what this is? It is shaped like the Japanese 19th century 100 Mon brass pieces. It is larger though and has diffent characters and images. It is 70.6mm high, 42.3mm wide, and 3.0mm thick. The reverse has a tortoise and snake with are Chinese and Japanese symbols for longevity (from what I read on the internet). There are also crossed swords and other imagery and characters.

BTW, it weighs 45.43 grams.

I do not know..but taking a guess it may be a temple token given like a souvenir.

the upper two characters on the left side read "tenpou" - it is a name for a period in Japanese history from 1830 to 1843

common currency were the so called "tenpou-tsuuhou":

the one on the photo is the so called "esen" - "picture coin" produced by private manufactures as a toys / amulets
