I've been collecting the sliver pandas for a few years. Lately I've been eyeing the gold ones, thinking of picking up a few. They come in different denominations. Anyone know a fair dealer that sells them, instead of going the ebay route?

You could peruse pandaamerica.com but, their prices are a little steep. My local dealer is fair well, most any local dealers are fair prices IMHO at spot. I could connect you with my local dealer but, you'd pay a small shipping/mailing. The quality is great!

The Panda's have always ran higher than the U.S. Eagle but look at the values of some of the older Panda's! WOW!!! Both my wife and I collect a Panda every year quite simply due to the constant changing of designs and the quality of the coin. Another ABSOLUTELY great series is the Australian Silver Kangaroo and again LOOK at older prices! Really like both series but have an expanded Australia collection now! Love the Roo!!!

I checked out pandamerica.com, you're right they are pricey. I'm also watching ebay, just to get a feel for the market before I start spending. I think I like the 1/10 oz. pieces. Once I've learned the series a little better I may reach out to you for your dealer info. Thanks!

I drool every time I search pandaamerica so I know what you mean. The 1/4 oz are easier to see the beautiful details and are my preference. So many designs...so little cash! Just let me know what you're looking for and e-mail me anytime - glad to help.

My wife bought the first gold Panda we have here at home, just last week.
In addition, I gave her a silver Panda for her collection.
The gold Panda is very attractive.

Where is the best place to get Silver Panda's. I just started collecting them this week. Also where can I get information about the series?

I just want to say be very careful when buying them on ebay and places like that because these things are widely counterfeited and I find it a little hard to tell on some of them. Some are obvious but some are just little details that is hard to tell I from a slightly blurry picture (good enough to see the coin well just not good enough to see all the details)

I totally agree with Bryan about e-bay. I would only buy from a seller that has VERY good feedback and one that primarily sells coins! pandaamerica will help to become familiar with the series/designs and so forth and ofcourse, an internet search for other sites is educational as well. I'm still for using a local dealer and/or coin show but, the key is knowledge and to aim for what you know and want. I always take a magnifier with me when I purchase and look very carefully at each and every coin before I buy. Most dealers will allow you to use their magnifiers if you don't have one with you. I've been very fortunate that my dealer is very "customer friendly" and honest. Building a rapport is another key to safe and honest purchasing! Just start talking with a dealer about an area that you are knowledeable and you can spot any conflicts with what the dealer knows and how honest they will be with you. That's where I find e-bay to be a little lacking so I shy away from it for that reason. I have to add...I'm getting a new Kookaburra for Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Santa came early! Yeah!

The president of one of the coin clubs I attend collects silver Pandas. A while back he brought in his year set collection. He pointed out that one was counterfeit. Everyone seemed to agree that the fake had greater detail and more eye appeal than the authentic specimens. I also believe the fake was correct composition.

I have seen fake Pandas but never one that had exact composition or weight! Usually a small scale tells you everything you need to know!
