No need to make a new thread to post the pictures. Just click the little pencil icon in the post of your original thread and add the pics that way. Or make a new post in the original thread. As to what your coin is... looks like it just had a really rough life, but I can't say for sure without clearer pictures.

better pics are needed. If your camera has a macro setting use that (or a scanner). Also need both sides of the coin.

Looks like a damaged coin to me. It is definately a 1998 or earlier coin, as LIBERTY is at the top. Since they didn't start making Sacagaweas until 2000, it is impossible for this coin to have been struck on a golden dollar planchet or coin. That's leaving aside the fact that the dollar planchet is larger, and would not fit into the collar during the striking process. Clearer pictures might help to determine the nature of the damage, but it is still just a damaged coin.

Thanks for all the replies and information. I had two others email me as well. Two say better pics are needed and for me to use MACRO (MACRO?) on my Digital Camera? I'll check and see if my camera has this setting. Two others said Sacagawea is impossible as her coin was not made until 2000. The two emails I received are different persons and are telling me that the coin is an error coin which has Mint Error Of DD and lots of Cud? Not sure what DD and Cud means. I'll look it up. Another said that Because this Quarter has no mint mark and allot of Cud (there's that word again) and DD Strikes it is an actual error coin. Thanks again for all the help I will still look for the MACRO Setting on my Digital Camera and post a better pic. when I do.
I will be placing the pics of the other coins I talked about earlier.

Take Care

Macro is usually represented by a flower symbol. It is a setting that is made for close up pictures

Going by your photo my guess is it had acid dropped on it.

One you can't have a quarter struck on a Sac dollar planchet because the Sac planchet will not fit through the quarter feeding tubes and would not fit in the collar. Even if a mint employee put it in there by hand ti would be broadstruck and noticeably larger than a quarter with a relatively large blank area between the quarter design and the edge of the coin.

DD usually stands for doubled die. Your picture is far to blurry for anyone to tell if there is doubling of any sort on the coin. I don't know how they can say they can see doubling, when it is very difficult just to read the word LIBERTY. No one has eyes that good. Cuds are die breaks along the rim of the coin that leave a large raised area of metal on the coin. Even with the blurry photo, I see no evidence whatsoever of a Cud. It could be damaged by acid as someone else said, but no matter the cause, it just looks like damage to me.
