Hi there. I found this while searching through some rolls. The penny has seen better days, but still displays an abnormality. Is this typical of gas entrapment (this is a steel core) or could it be something else?

I hope this is of interest and thanks for your time!

It is caused by the steel corroding underneath the copper plating. It is also quite commonly seen on US Zincolns.

Thanks kemist, it's the first I've seen like this on a steel core penny. I appreciate your help.
