You MUST have a casino chip or token then and not a silver strike. Silver strikes didn't show up until 1992. I am guessing what you have must be from the Flamingo Hotel and Casino as Wayne Newton started his Headliner show there in 1960 and it lasted 20 years. After that he went to the old Aladdin as part owner and in 1999 he signed a 10 year contract with the Stardust. In 2005 the contract was amicably terminated and Newton began a 30-show stint that summer at the Hilton. Newton is currently performing at Harrah's Las Vegas. Got a picture of your item? Could be worth a bit.

Not a chip, but cool nonetheless....
Went for more than the typical silver round too.

I get two silver-dollar size gaming tokens from every casino I visit and kept them in a separate exonumia drawer in my coin cabinet. I think the ultimate gaming tokens are Roman tesserae, with erotic scenes on one side and mark of value on the other, used in higher class brothels for dice games. There is a website which gives auction prices for ancient coins, and you can see many examples by typing "tesserae" in the search engine -- or just google "Roman tesserae."
