I am trying to attribute this Arcadius, but I'm having trouble with the mint mark once again. The last letter is a Greek gamma, but the rest I'm having trouble. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks Doug. I was having trouble on two fronts. Wildwinds does not list this coin from Alexandria, and the options they show do not have mint marks similar to this. I believe they only show this reverse from Constantinople, Heraclea and Cyzicus. Those mint marks do not come close to what I could see on this coin. I know that Wildwinds is not definitive, but since I do not have my own copy of RIC, I rely on Wildwinds a lot. Now that I have something to go on, I can do some searches on other reference sites. Again, thanks for the assistance.

That did not take long to find. It is Arcadius AE 4, Alexandria mint,RIC IX 20(c). BTW, it is a huge coin at 13mm weighing in at 1.1g.

In hand, the chi-rho is easier to see.

Haha - your getting a lot faster, I may have to up my game!

Ignore the '/23b' bit - I thought it sounded odd and have just looked it up in RIC, it cant be this as it does not have the chi-rho, just the dot in left field.

I see this is a rare coin. RIC IX 20(c)1 is noted as confirmation required. It would not hurt to report it to Warren Esty or Dane Kurth (Helvetica) at Wildwinds. I don't know if there are others but neither has it and you do.

Congrats JW
I followed the treads on this coin and this good news indeed.

Seems that ancient coins still have many discoveries left to be made.
I had one go in the NOT IN RIC awhile ago but hasn't gone to Wildwinds.
This is exciting.

I don't have it in my catalog as to how I acquired this particular coin, so I'm not sure. However, usually when I don't have it annotated, it means I bought it in a group of uncleaned coins off of ebay, and generally I spend about $2-2.50 per uncleaned coin.
