I recently purchased a 1954 $1 with a mismatched serial number - one digit different on both sides.
The bill in crisp, new and the modified portrait.

How uncommon are these bills?

What kind of value would this bill have?

What's a good source for finding out information on this type of error?

Would you recommend that I get it graded?

Is your note a series 1954 Canada error note or a USA series 1957 Silver Certificate error note?

The note has a book value of $400 (Charlton Standard Catalogue for Canadian Government Paper Money 24th edition). These notes are uncommon, but you do see them for sale from time to time.

It is in the Canadian Section of the forum. So my guess is Canadian.

Yes it's a Canadian note with signatures Beattie and Raminsky
Just for the record, I did mention that the bill had the modified portrait.
I just bought it on ebay.

The value given in the Charlton Catalogue, does not specify between different series of notes, so it is just a broad price foe every note with 1 digit mismatched.

Sounds like a good price, I am really interested in seeing some scans.
