What was the typical going rate of Merc dimes, SLQs , Walking Liberty halves and Barber halves prior to the silver run up? I'm curious of the numismatic value of average circulated pieces like this , excluding melt silver value.

If we're talking nothing, but average well circulated pieces, I think about $1, $3, $5, $6

Since silver was removed from circulating U.S. coinage in 1965 (except 40% Kennedys) the common dates in average circulated condition have been tied to the spot price of silver. This is a generalization with some exceptions, but holds true for the majority of the coins you mentioned.
