Well, you could get cranking and get to 250 posts and sell that silver to me for spot. ;)

Seriously though, while I agree that melting coins can be a tough call for many, the smelters pay when you need it. No marketing involved, that has to be worth something when you are tight on time. That said, I have done business with Midwest and found them to be easy to work with...and totally agree that the only thing that really NEEDS to be melted in all the junk sterling out there...so they can be turned in to proof silver coins!

PS check the completed listing prices for your coins on ebay...it looks like "junk" is selling for WAY more than spot nowadays. May be worth your while.

Harrison2,

I thought it was only 50 posts to sell and buy here. Oh well, I could throw it into overdrive and comment on the weather if necessary. :)

Thanks for the input on Midwest, I have heard favorable feedback about them.

At this point, whether to sell on E-Bay verses the smelting option pretty much depends on which will pay more. I have often offered coins with no reserve but lately I feel I will try the Purchase It Now with Counteroffer option. It may run a few dollars more, but I feel it the best test. If the price I ask for, which I would be fair on, is met then I will sell on E-Bay. If there is reluctance, I will have to go with smelting.

A side note to all this is I now have a bit of sterling silver jewelry and an option of getting more. I will likely have these smelted.

Later,

Kenscott
