being new to coin collecting can anyone help me I keep seeing the codes BU etc what do they mean and what do they refer too

To the left of the page you will see a list of topics... if you look under "Glossary" you will find an extensive list of terms. Have fun!

Most of the codes you will see are coin conditions, although some refer to a type of coin (SLQ = Standing Liberty quarter) and some refer to coin terms ( PMD = post mint damage). If you look at the links on the left hand side under Navigation, see Glossary, this should help you decode some of them.

Also, never be afraid to ask others.
