The early coppers are coming in and here's one I've been wanting to upgrade for awhile (especially after my 1798 or 1799 scare last week)! Let's see what you come up with for grade as compared to our fourth "recognized" TPG - ICG. Paleoguy

Ill say its actually VG, but ICG may have given it a F grade. They usually aren't too far off on circulated coins.

I should say though, I'm terrible at grading early Coppers.

Just an additional bit of info.. ICG like ANACS assigns a numerical grade to coins with details... Guess accordingly.. And pay attention to the hair..

Solid XF-40 details. I have seen coins with this level of detail graded XF-40, even XF-45 consistently.

Nice coin, the corrosion looks very minor compared to most out there.

Probably stole this coin for a cheap price given how people dont trust ICG slabs...especially with corroded labels.

Well Shadow, didn't exactly steal it... Paid a bit under $300 with my 1798 thrown in. The 98 was probably worth $100 give or take... I'm good with it... PG

Early coppers are tough to grade. I know the coin doesn't look spectacular, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was graded a VF-30, hell, maybe even XF-40.

Edit... ooops, didn't realize the answer was already in the thread, well at least I was correct (half-way). Calling it corroded is kinda mean. How many coppers of this era have less "corrosion"...are we gonna call 95% of early large cents corroded now.
