My brother was moving out of his apartment owned by some elderly dude before him and was taking out all his stuff and found this 1966 dollar. He gave it to me for my next birthday!

Still in good shape even though he threw it to me badly and hit the wooden floor!

He knows nothing about coins, lol, (HE THOUGHT IT WAS A PENNY)

Don't bother. Take it to a coin shop and ask to trade it for a similar coin from the dealer's "melt bucket".

What about acetone, I would rather do that than trade my brother's gift and probably get a coin in worst condition.

That may get some of the green color off, but this looks like rough, thick oxidation that has compromised the surface. No way to safely remove it completely.

I think you might have to dip that coin a few times in silver dip, followed with an acetone rinse and water wash. That might remove the "green stuff", but will you may have to accept the consequences of dipping that coin - it will turn bright white silver colour.
