The price of the coin was $1000 + 1.85 for insurance (shipping). And now I was told the company is not authorized to ship PCGS so now it is going to NGC. I am fine with that they are still very good. And no I don't need to pay $50 because I explained the complaints of accugrade. I cant wait to get this coin and put some pics up! It does seem in great condition especially for only a G4. Thanks guys!

That is a pretty high price for a G4 16-d imo, but if your happy with it, that is all that matters.

I just did a quick search on ebay and found two 1916 D Mercury dimes already graded by PCGS as G-4, for around $800 each and many AG-3 coins (graded by NGC) for around $500.

However, like Johnny said. If you happy with the coin, that's all that matters.

I used to watch them coin dealers on qvc and the other channel selling all kinds of junk and selling it overpriced. Good luck with the coin bro.

Mario- What is QVC haven't heard of it? Most of the coins I've saw on tv were all graded by NGC besides mine and some others Accugrade.

4033ryan, the problem is that if we tell you about these other coin shows, you'll go buy more over priced coins ... I haven't really seen coin shows on QVC lately, but HSN as fairly regular coin collector shows where they mostly put together groups of coins to sell rather than unique one-of-a-kind individual coins. Most graded coins I have seen there are from PCGS. But as already pointed out, you can do much better buying coins on ebay than you can from these tv programmes, or at the very least, research completed auctions on ebay to establish rough market values before you buy from anywhere. Most of us here feel the tv coin shows are very over priced. Do a little research on the internet and become an informed buyer. And don't be afraid to ask questions here too!

The coin vault had a segment dedicated to ASE's graded by NGC at MS-69. They had every year the ASE was issued. They had all the slabs lined up real pretty like and explained in detail how much better MS-69 was compared to MS-70 and how scarece MS-69 was over all the other graded ASE's available. <I about died laughing> They then went on to explain on important the 1996 was as it was the key and worth five to six times the price of a normal slabbed MS-69 ASE. <I did die from laughter on that one, Three times yes, six times no>. Priced before 10 minutes expired
was $2,750 even. I looked at what I had paid for my complete set in MS-69 including three extra 1996 slabs which I pieced together over three years, $1,257.80, which includes all up to date ASE's. Theirs stopped at 2010. I called and asked if they wanted to buy mine, they hung up ....

Coin shows on TV are so overpriced it is not even close to being funny, as a side note, they sold over 300 of those sets in less than 10 Minutes.. with get this....FREE SHIPPING!

Yes I'm fine with the price, I will be holding onto this coin so it will mean a lot having a rarer coin like this one. I'm hoping I get a VG. I believe I have a chance. The coin was originally graded a long time ago so hopefully I can get a VG. Thats just some hopeful thinking.

Could you emphasise a bit on exactly what TV program you bought it from? You said it was some type of auction?
