Went through last night as my kids helped me the first time. In all the excitment, I knew there was a good chance some stuff got missed, Plus I had to look for errors and keys in the clad. Another 90%er and 4 more 40%ers. A 2004 NIFC and a 1982-P no FG.

i was telling my dad, who lives in a very unpopulated area, to hunt for halves, he said all the tellers have gotten smart... but I told him to go to his bank that has a coin counting machine so he can get the bag. is it true that when the bags fill up the tellers dont touch them, they just go on the "truck"? I feel like these bags are the best way to find stuff... also do these machines sort the coins themselves.. I'm guessing they do

The machines by me sort the coins by denomination, but I'm not sure if that is true everywhere. I agree bags are the way to go, but I have had many banks tell me no. I do a lot of business with this bank so I had an upper hand, and they still had to make a phone call. I think a bag gives you the best chance of finding the good stuff.

That was a nice score. Maybe a top 10 that I have seen in my years of CRH. Have seen some incredable ones, just not in person...
My personal best is around 150, and that came out of a $1k bag. Just not that volume of 90%. Most of them were 40%.

They would all have to sort by denomination to get the tally...I don't know if you can go around buying them up though. I think this might have been right place, right time, lotsa luck! And I'd be happy with just the silver, but...most definitely would check for keys. Everyone would. Nice haul, Tag!

Congrats on the score. But there is no call to make a *&^$ video on youtube.

Quote: I think a bag gives you the best chance of finding the good stuff I don't think it is necessarily the bags, but rather the lack of hands (eyes) that potentially come across these turned in coins. These coins went from the unknowing customer directly into the bag you bought... no human sorter/handler was involved to intercept them. So, what are you doing with them? Keeping any for a collection, or just cashing in on their silver value? The title of this thread is correctly named... you are one lucky guy.

And I thought my 20 90% Kennedy's & 75 40% Kennedy's ($47.50) was a big find. This guy put me to shame; plus he found numerous Franklins & Walking Liberties. If only Capital One would sell me bags.......

I'm keeping them for now. They are safe in the safe deposit box. I plan to keep them for my kids.
