I have been happy with Goldmart.com. They currently sell 2012 (presale) ASEs for $2.49 over spot. Their shipping rates are kind of high but still end up very competitive to the other sellers.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I am heading to a couple of "Buy Gold and Silver" shops this morning on my way to the coin shop. I will post my results when I get back.

Well nothing good to report. I stopped at 3 "Buy and Sell Gold and Silver" shops and the few ASE's they had were not in very good shape(they are going in my Dansco) so I passed on them. When I stopped at the local coin shop is when I got my biggest surprise. I looked over some Morgans then asked him about the price on ASE's. Now I know that silver go up or down to much this week so when he told me $42.00 each I like to fainted. I told him I called last Saturday and he told me $38.00 he then said it was a crazy market. I asked him if he wanted to sell me 3 at $38.00 I would buy them and he told me no, so I told him to put them back. I am just about fed up with this guy, it is a 40 mile round trip just to go there and then to have the price jump $4.00 each when I think for the week silver may actually down, please correct me if I am wrong on that, well I just came home and ordered on line, $9.95 shipping but at least I don't have to drive 40 miles to get shafted. Thanks for letting me rant. I feel better now.

wornslick, are you in NE Missouri? I'm only asking because I saw that name on Coinshowradios map. If you are McPikes pawn shop in west Quincy sells for $2 over spot but it's hit and miss weather he has any.

You can't expect bullion quotes to be good for a week.

Yes I am, I was there today, not much to look at. Quote: You can't expect bullion quotes to be good for a week Like I said I am new to this but when silver doesn't go up very much can the price of an ASE go up $4.00 each?

Like I said I am new to this but when silver doesn't go up very much can the price of an ASE go up $4.00 each?Yes they can for a few reasons - supply an demand if they are selling a lot price can go up as supple goes down - I see this at small shops. Morgans - price is all over the place recently and the BU do not drop, usually, though if they are as bad as you said then the price shouldn't be $40.00.

OK, I guess all siver is selling now, thats why some of them are sold out of ASE'.

Guess I am pretty lucky, at my local silver shop I normally get bullion ASE at $2.50 over spot and proofs, except low mintage dates at $4 over spot.

If you are that far out in the country that there is no other shops around to compete, then sorry man, that's the price. They factor in the price of gas just like you do when they go to the big city to make a big buy. It is way high. I'm just across the river from a top 25 US metro area, so competition is fierce. I get local prices under APMEX stated from my local shop, not even counting shipping. Can you post up to see if other local folks would want to pitch in for a bulk buy? Local coin clubs might be a help?

Yes, those look like pretty good prices to me. Lots of shops out there charge more than that. A couple of my local shops charge spot + $4-5 on ASEs and are frequently sold out. They buy quite a few but they also sell quite a few. Unless I can do better than the on-line price, I don't buy a lot of ASEs locally. Even when I do, they are likely to have only half a dozen or so available. It's not like they have several mint tubes worth at any given time... unless they have just received a mint box shipment within the past week or so. Because of this, I tend to visit their shops fairly often to see how the inventory and prices are doing.

wornslick and I are from the same area. There is one coin shop 17 miles away and he has no competition so his prices tend to be high. There are 6 or 7 pawn shops but they all charge about $40+ for common silver dollars accept one which is also.......17 miles away. I go there when I get a chance but to make a special trip cost $7-$8 in gas so that eats away at the low price he has and he may not have what I want anyway. I envy you guys that have choices, we really just don't.
