Ok so I picked up 40 rolls of dimes today from the bank and the teller took out some rolls and gave me the box. She asked me if everything looked good and I took a quick peek said yes and left. Upon getting home (across town) I counted the rolls and she actually gave me 44 rolls. Now I dont know if I should bring them back. On 1 hand is karma and my integrity work selling for $20 and on the other hand, her mistake, banks loss and the dimes are all vacume wrapped so I have to buy new rolls to put them in. What do you guys think?
This is a no brainer. They are not yours take them back, You will be surprised at the service you get next time you use the bank if you do  |

i'd take them back, but tell the teller that a service attracts another and the next times she/he sees the kind of rolls you like (maybe the ones that looks really old and brought in by some old lady) to put them aside for you.

Well I thought I would let everyone know that I sorted through the rolls and brought them back. I was really on the fence about it, but It was just the right thing to do. I wasnt as concerned about the teller having to pay out of pocket and I knew it was coming from the bank but I brought them back anyways. This is a bank that I wanted topick rolls up from due to its location near retirment homes..old homes and shopping so I think it is an ideal bank to deal with. I brought them to the same teller as well and she was just floored with the honesty and reall appreciated that there were good people out there. Gives you that warm fuzzy butterfly feeling. She'll remember me when I go back ina few weeks. P.S. Out of 2 rolls of quarters and 40 rolls of...sorry 43 rolls of dimes :-) I found only one 1968 silver. I'll take it though. Hopefully karma will deal me a whole roll of 1966's! HaHa!CHEERS ALL! Stay true!

@Kefiroth I work in a bank and if the teller is off, by that much, it's no big lose to them athough it would go on his or her record as a revenue lost but its not a sugnificant amount but the human thing to do is return the difference. I'm sure the teller would really appreciate it.

I'd return the extra for the sake of the teller, and because it is the right thing to do. "Bank" and "morality" are two words that do not belong in the same sentence though. Conjuring "money" out of thin air and loaning it to people who will be forced to spend a good portion of their adult lives paying it back is perhaps one of the greatest scams ever conceived.

 take them back or call the branch to see how they want to handle it. somewhat related: grocery shopping early in the week, I picked up 3 cases of bottled water, when I got home I noticed the cashier only charged for 1 case. I went back and paid for the other 2 cases. It doesn't matter if the store expects loses or the cashier was not faulted by the store, I felt better being honest and paying for what I received Edited by Fuzzy317

I agree. Take them back. It's only $20 but just this act will add points to your integrity and might get you far more in return in the long run. eg. tellers holding coins for you; letting you know when something interesting has arrived etc..
And if nothing comes of it, it just feels good and you can walk into the bank and still look the tellers in the eyes.
