Canada wants to stop coins and make it all digital. Its funny how money used to be worth the value of face for te most part and now it is something just to represent a value (that keeps being chipped away at) canada actually is having a contest to figue. Way to make thw digital currency with the prize being of all things GOLD!! Real money

biggfredd- I completely agree and was not making that as an excuse for me, but america is so hard headed that any excuse will be escalated to the highest degree haha.

trout I also agree with you, the bi-metal coin is the simplest option it seems. At least in the line of not getting complaints by people.

I'm sorry, but I think everyone making that excuse should have to say "I confuse mini-bux with quarters because I'm not as smart as a six-year-old, who can tell the difference between a cent and a dime."

Maybe so, Fredd but I have personally received Susan Bs as quarters in change for multiple purchases, so it wasn't just one person or a one time event. Hey, maybe this is why the burger joints put PICTURES of the food items on their cash registers?

I really hope they keep cents around but seems I may be the only one. Pennies are the gateway into our hobby and for me the most fun to collect.

They should just keep pennies for proof sets or proof versions that you can buy for a slight premium from the mint. They have little to no value in circulation unless you get lucky and find a valuable one. With how many there are they wounldnt even necessarily have to start destroying them, but at the very least they should stop making new ones for banks

Try asking for a Braille picture menu. Usually keeps the pizza faces busy for a bit.

I can understand confusing the Susie B's for quarters but not the golden dollars.

I'm really tired of that lame excuse, when no one confuses cents and dimes or $10 and $100. If you're in that big of a hurry, slow down before you have a heart attack.

I agree. The reeded edge on the SBA was the real problem.

If we get rid of the one dollar bill strip clubs will have a hard time doing business.

This seems to be a major concern of the pro-dollar bill lobby. I wonder why? Are they owners, clients, or employees?

Why not a shaped coin and a bi metal coin in line with the Canadian coins . Simple, should stop the confusion with the simple minded

I don't know about that. Never underestimate the simpleminded.

And if they were gone nickels would be the gateway into our hobby and for the new collectors the most fun to collect. Some may say "But the higher cost will be a deterrent", but when I started collecting the cent had the purchasing power that the dime does today. That much higher purchasing power didn't seem to deter us from collecting back then.

Yes. We should eliminate the penny, nickel, dollar bill and 2 dollar bill. Then add a 2 dollar coin and make all our coins out of steel.

Yes... We should eliminate the penny, then we can get $10-$20 per roll like Canada is now!
eliminate the nickel, do you really want your bills rounded up to nearest dime?
Then you would see everything priced at $1.06 which would = $1.10
US has stopped make Gold dollar coins for banks in 2012, everyone still wants to use paper dollar bill.
Coming soon... the girls in strip clubs start wearing just credit card readers!

Do yourself a favor. Next Wednesday, write down every transaction, and run one total as normal and one with each total rounded to the nearest dime.

Get back to us with the different totals.

Or, just do it on the cash transactions, since plastic and chex wouldn't change.

Yes, I would like change to be rounded to the nearest dime. Even if store managers did price everything ending in $0.06, once tax is applied you would have random last digits.
