I may have to check my "brick and mortar" store for "one of the last on earth" 7070's.
Rest in Peace

I was holding out to purchase the new updated version wanting the latest and greatest. After about 4 or 5 months I came across a post on the forum that an ebay seller had a couple of 7070's left for sale. I pulled the trigger on one and got a brand new current revision album. The seller had five and they were gone in less that 24 hours. I figured the new revision would be released the day after I received mine, but two months later and still no revised album. You know what they say about the wheels of progress....

I'LL ASK my coin shop if they can order NEW/Revised 7070.
Think I could get $50 each for New/Revised 7070?

Well, they are definitely working on updating the 7070. Whether it will be "releasing soon" remains to be seen, however...

As someone stated in another thread like this one, you know what coins you will need for it, so just keep collecting the coins. I'm sure a new revision will be released sometime during 2012. It's the coins that matter, not the album.

They will not be able to order something that does not yet exist. If they order one for you, it will be the old version that is still available.

Darth Anarchus,
since you have about half of the holes still to go, you should just wait for new 7070 then you will have Latest/Greatest 7070 collection which would be of more value. I sure the new 7070 will be about same price as old one.

this place has just the pages:

I was just wondering. When and if Dansco revises their type set album would you think that they would include spaces for:

- 2009 Lincoln Penny
- 2010 Lincoln Shield Penny
- Upgraded Jefferson nickel
- space for one of the Westward expansion nickels
- Washington America the Beautiful Quarter
- Isabella Quarter

Also I was wondering:

- Why there is space for 4 Commerative Half Dollars and only space for one commerative dollar?

- Why is not more varieties provided in the album? Such as for the Eisenhower dollar among many others.

Nobody who knew anything was at the "brick and mortar" store today. He said they carry Dansco's but could not tell me if they had any 7070's.

~I seriously doubt that the Isabella Quarter would be added to the 7070, it's TOO specific.

~There are a whole heck-of-a-lot more Commemorative Half Dollars than Commemorative Dollars.

When the 7070 was originally designed there probably weren't that many dollar commems. If it was designed before 1983 there was only one, the Lafayette.

That would be nice if they added holes for all those types ghostrider... Looks like I will just have more holes filled when The new Dansco #7070 comes out... It'll look better in the end

They also definitely need holes for the "Arrows & Rays" variety of all the different Seated Liberty coins.

I suspect, however, that the update will simply be to modernize it a bit to include newer varieties.

I think that when all is said and done the purpose of a type set is to have one coin of each major series present in an album so that at a glance you could see coin history. Are varieties needed, in some cases yes. I really feel that when a coin is significantly changed it becomse a new coin. Changing either side of a coin seems to qualify as a monumental event. Having one commerative half dollar would force a collector to be selective about the coin he includes. Something he does with each coin he introduces to his album.

For example in the case of the Susan B's a near date doesn't really change the impact of the coin, IMHO it just an oddity that adds to the flavor of the set and worthy of it own slot in the album. Such a dated coin would need be included in the coin's album, of course.
