Quote: and ungraded sets in the OGP may actually be worth more than a MS69/PR69 graded set. Just curious...why do you think that?

Look at the info I just posted. APMEX is selling their MS69/PR69 graded sets for $849. They are selling raw sets in OGP for $895. That's $46 more for the raw sets in OGP unless my math is really off.

And I do like the OGP. That's a serious case. I wonder if the 75th SF ASE set is going to be as nice.

Yeah, I like the OGP so much on these sets that I ended up buying a larger safe just so I could have a place to store them (they were a lot bigger than I thought they would be when I ordered them). I still occasionally take one out just to drool over it, which is something I doubt I would do if the coins were all slabbed...

The difference is the packaging and all of the sets I had graded are still in their nice blue box. I would say it's a draw with neither having an advantage...the only advantage would have been having them graded unopened and coming up with a few 70/70 sets. The other are a wash.... and...the last 2 raw SOLD (not asking price) for $715,717 the last 2 NGC MS/PF 69 sold for $775, 800,

Well, if you're saying a raw set in the OGP compared to a MS/PF69 set with the OGP, I would agree that it's probably a wash. I think a lot of graded sets are now floating around without the OGP, however, in which case it may actually be worse to have them graded.
I don't recall -- did the TPGs return the OGP when you sent the sealed boxes for grading, or did you have to pay extra for that?

NGC returned the packaging and capsules for no charge...PCGS charged for the return of the packaging
Anacs didn't want the packaging at all...they just required the 2 key coins and three of the others from your collection and they would give them all the 25th Annie Set label

Foxwoods the raw is more than likely worth more than the 69 because of the chance it could grade a 70.

Don't forget shipping and insurance to send to TPG and back? Lost $40-$50 right there. What about the cost to slab? Great if the set comes back as MS-70.

Quote: I'm still very happy with the $2,250.00 that I got for selling 3 raw sets to a dealer.
It made the 2 sets I kept free and then some. My girlfriend said I should sell three of my A25 Sets, for this very reason. Her idea made perfect sense, so I didn't do it! (I don't want to part with any of my A25 Sets...)

Quote: I don't want to part with any of my A25 Sets... You could part with just one, which would pay for two sets - which is what I did. Bought three, sold one. After legwork, paid for one, got two. Love that set. Just popped one of mine open to admire...never fails to amaze.

Correct, but only 2 from the set can get the 25th Annie label....and.. that "raw" set you buy now could have already been graded and created from 68's cracked out of their holders. That same psyche unfortunately affects current holders of true raw sets. The purchaser just never knows if they are getting a real raw set or someone's discards. I made my own raw set (for me, not for sale) using an RP 68, S MS68, and 3 coins that I purchased earlier in the year. It looks great but it would never get any 70 grades on the key coins

I picked up 5 sets. Sold one on the bay, traded another to a CCF member for a 2006 set and some ASEs. I have a set that I will keep & 2 sets to trade or sell. But, I may try to trade them for the key date Lincolns (09s vdb, 14d,& 22 no d) that I need to finish my Dansco.

chris12018, I am still appreciating that set you traded me! :) I am now out looking for a new 20th anniversary set to replace the one we traded.

Nice trade for the 2006 set. I would include a couple of proof ASEs. I never have thought of that and I have a few extra 2006 sets and proof ASEs. Great idea!
