This Gatewest exclusive is reminiscent of the 2009 silver $20 Cartier coin that was (at least initially) an exclusive deal with Monnaie Collection Royale. I don't recall that coin being available via the RCM's website either.

Heehee, if I disappear from the forums we'll know why. But the beauty of the Internet is that we can resurrect under a different name :P All in good fun though.

Quote:Wait a minute here. I haven't seen this on the MC page. So now, do we have a pre-MC release that is authorized by the RCM policea? FYI. The RCM is now offering these two 1kg coins to Masters Club members in 'very limited quantities'. Same price as Gatewest.

@CC-Ottawa, I've also seen the coins at Talisman Coins as well as Colonial Acres.

Ya, just thought it bizarre that the Mint is the last place to offer them for sale.

@CC-Ottawa - Well, I did post product codes for these two items weeks ago..... This means that the coins were on the Mint's page, just hidden.

Today is the first day that the Mint officially offered these coins for sale despite dealers having offered them more than a week ago. I find that curious. Per the MC notification received today, the coins were produced by the Mint for a dealer (Gatewest) and now, the Mint is selling a small allocation of the coins from this dealer. Just an odd turn of events. Carry on.

What happened to the other thread about the 1812 toonies? Did it get eaten too?
I can't believe it, but I've already gotten an email that the toonies have shipped for me. Maybe things are getting better at the mint, or maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones this time.
