I never cleaned them they have been in these holders the day I got them, Never took them out, as I know better then to be holding them with dirty oily fingers and such, I just left them in there.

I had them on Craigslist, someone is interested in them, he said he would buy them, as long as I offer a 100% money back guarantee, in-which I told him I would. I would not feel right if I didn't offer him that option.

Hopefully they will sell, and I can buy the sword I have been trying to get, as I would rather keep my toys.

The 1836 Half Cent and the 1873 Two Cent are proof only issues and are worth thousands of dollars each if genuine. If you could post clear close ups the coins in particular those two, some of the more knowledgeable members in these series can render an opinion on authenticity. If there is no signs of being a fake, these should be sent to a TPG like PCGS or NGC to be certified in order to maximize the sale price. The $2.5 has about $190 worth of gold at today's prices but these usually sell at a premium so I would guess it would be worth around $250ish maybe a little bit more if not a problem coin.

Yes, if the guy that says he is going to buy them , backs out, I'm going to send them all in for certification.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

Those particular coins need to be slabbed by a TPG.

From what I see the Half Cent and Two Cent are fakes and that doesn't bode well for the quarter eagle.

@ Conder,

what makes you say that, with just the pics I posted.

I really would like to know, either way, I will be sending them in to have them checked out, and graded.

This trio isn't the typical "found in great grandpa's cigar box" set. Something isn't right here.

When did I say they was found in great grandpa's cigar box, I never said how, or where I got them, so why put words in my mouth, that's kinda rude, don't you think ?

"Found in grandpa's cigar box" is just a term we collectors use for random lots of coins that non collectors come across. Usually its just a bunch of old loose change left forgotten in a box or jar, with little true collector value. All he was saying is that this is not typical of that kind of find. It wasn't aimed at you personally...

and when you get them graded --if they are fake they come back in a plastic bag.

If it's real, $2500 would be a fair price for the Two Cent alone, and the Half Cent is worth at least twice that. So if your coins are real, you are being taken to the cleaners.

@bmoore1332

What I'm saying is that these aren't typical coins that non collectors typically have. Having three less common is unusual. Typically no collectors will have things like Morgan or Peace dollars, wheat cents, Buffalo nickels and maybe a gold coin here or there. To have three less common coins in mint state seems highly unusual unless you are a collector.

The rims are wrong on the Two Cent Piece for it to be a proof, and this is a proof only issue. The 1836 Half Cent has the wrong reverse for this year. That reverse does not match the original, the first restrike, or the second restrike. It appears to be reverse A of 1826.
