I bought this off of ebay for 10.44, which was the current melt value at the time of purchase. It's either a Dryer Coin or a spooned coin. I offered the seller 10.00 BO, it was declined. Then I offered 10.44 BO, which was the current melt value at the time of purchase. The seller had it labeled as an error, but I knew it wasn't. I explained to the seller in the note that it was not an error coin, and it went through a dryer or was spooned. I said that I'd offer melt value for it and this would be my final offer. Surprisingly, the seller accepted my final offer.  It's currently worth 11.21 in silver melt value today. https://www.ebay.com/itm/257588438180   Errers and Varietys.

Thank you, jbuck! I made it clear to the seller that it was my final offer. I wouldn't pay more than melt for it, since it's a damaged coin. I was surprised he took the offer. I thought he'd decline it again. It was a nice surprise.  Errers and Varietys.

I'm curious why you bought the coin at melt value. Did you just want the silver, or do you intend to complete the ring making process?

Just wanted to stack silver for melt at a good price. It's hard to get silver at melt value on ebay. Errers and Varietys.

By definition, here's what a spooned coin is. Quote:Spooned A spooned coin often looks like a Dryer Coin. I tried to do that once, back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.
Got the idea from my older brother.
Silver is more malleable than the Cu-Ni coins.
Even so, I gave up by about the point as the coin in the OP.
Good pickup Errors, getting silver at spot.
