Adding a bit of gold to your stack at some point is a good idea. But for this purchase? I'd go with your excellent silver choices and maybe set aside a few dollars every week to buy a 1/4 ounce gold coin in the near future.

Well since I just started collecting about 3 months ago, I made a new plan for myself, Ill be at 45 ozs of silver after this order. Once I passed $1500 worth, I was going to flip some silver into a quarter of gold. Would that be a good idea?

ive done that. posted a few times regarding it. A lot of people say save until you afford gold but I buy silver until I can afford gold. Or you can buy the silver now and play the GSR ( Gold silver ratio) Game if you are patient enough. I try to have 1/2oz gold for every 25oz of silver. I wanted more gold but I like silver too much. I wont get into the 1oz I dont think. Gold is already out of so many people budget that If I were to sell when gold gets right up there, the 1/2oz will be easier to sell. you pay the premium over the 1oz coins but you pay less of a premium than the lower fractional, which are more liquid though. To each his/her own I guess. CHEERS!

thanks samsnate. Always helpful.
I will be putting in this silver order at the end of this week and I will start to save up a bit for some gold, and maybe only have to flip a small portion of silver.

Silver now gold later seems wise.... Gold is great, but trying to stack both, now you are trying to beat a two headed monster, or with the price of gold three headed dog like the beast that guards the gates of this guys pad ....

Spend it on something else as you won't get rich from making either decision.

I say go with the ASE straight across the board. I know you didnt ask for an opinion on this but even the Maples in your cart would be ASE if it were me. I do like the Englehard bars too though.

ASE always seems like a safe bet but it is also nice to collect different coins so if you don't have Maples or etc. I would definitely get the silver though!

Silverdollar. Never said I was looKing to get rich. I collect because its fun and enjoyable. And I know I will always have something to fall back on in case of an emergency or any other economical fall.

I had the a similar opportunity earlier, and I should have went for the GOLD. I was a little slow on the trigger and someone else jumped the gun.
The gold will provide some contrast to your silver!
Go for the GOLD!

I agree with the advice to save up for a 1/4 ounce bullion piece. When and if the time comes, you can be sure that news will spread about US gold bullion far beyond Swiss Pamp. Or any other kind of of non-USA bullion. Good luck with your stacking!
Oh I hate that word! I prefer to house each of my precious few gold coins in at least a 2X2. The better ones are in plastic -- the ones with the spongy ring stuff. They are "real" USA coins and not the bullion. And since they were saved from circulation years ago, without any special care, they will survive my handling.

Get the silver. With gold, you're only getting a gram and you're really paying for it. Don't get copper bullion b/c it's not bullion - instead get yourself an MS cent of some kind.

Libertad I was actually thinking that I may start doing that instead of paying way too much for 1 oz copper rounds.
Like I said its for my daughter. She's not really "investing" quite yet, just collecting, having fun....
But some nice MS Cents, or some old Indian Heads I think would be way better.
