Getting rid of PPACA seems like a distraction now. Staying in power trumps making the hard budget decisions for both parties.
Gold and silver are going up.

"Romney knows how business works and has actually created businesses and jobs. Obama? Not so much."
The reason Ed I hope Rom wins verses Obama. Being the small guy my dad always said vote for the democrat as they have your best interest at heart. I DISAGREE, not so much anymore or at least with this particular party....
The crazy conspiracy theorist in me can't help but think SABO should be placed in front of Obama's name as I can't help but feel his goal was to bring the country down from the inside, lol. No other logic can explain their choice of action IMO....
I am not convinced Rom is not just another fence rider who sides with the popular choice at the time, but I am willing to give him a chance at it with his business background....

In the past both parties had what they thought was the best interest with just different ideas. The current leadership of the Dems have hijacked the party and forced it so far left guys like Liberman from the old group got kicked out of the party for not being liberal enough. But back to the topic theres one other thing weve forgotten to mention. Most election years the presidential election would probably be the biggest spike or drop of PMs especially this election, but the 2012 end of the world hysteria could over take that if people start to get nervous it could be true. Personally I think if the apocalypse is really coming it wont matter what you have so its not really worth worrying about.

But we already have Medicaid which is almost the same thing as everyone having healthcare. It covers everyone with a low income who applies. So how is that any different. Obamacare just bundles all of the plans that we already have

If this poll/topic degenerates into a straight political discussion, it will be locked or moved to General Discussion. Obama's healthcare plan has nothing to do with precious metals.

Quote: Obama's healthcare plan has nothing to do with precious metals. I dont mean to be argumentative or rude by any means, but PMs prices are largely based on speculation. Anything that has a large impact on the spending or deficit of the country does play a large roll in the future prices of of PMs, just my 2 cents

However, I think it's reasonable to say that most North American forum members are familiar with the positions of both parties. By avoiding getting too specific on the latest contents of the political sausage grinder, hopefully we can prevent another locked discussion.

Exactly what coinwatch said. Right, wrong, or indifferent, we can discuss what will happen without getting into the "dirt" of why it will happen. That being said, I voted that PM will go down, no matter who wins. However, they will eventually be back up again, no matter who wins. I say this because the uncertainty of "who will lead us" is, in my opinion, the biggest issue now. Once we have a winner, a specific leader to "get behind" for better or worse, many people (myself included) will feel cautiously optimistic. At least for a little while, because the dirty business that is the presidential election cycle will have ended. So, down, then up; probably way up. I do not see either candidate righting the ship any time soon.

Quote: Being the small guy my dad always said vote for the democrat as they have your best interest at heart. At one time, that was probably true, Hawk. I agree with you that it is no longer so. Both parties have morphed into a political class that has MUCH more in common with each other than they do with any of us, regardless of party. This is why I say, "Don't re-elect anyone... ever!". It is a complete myth than ANY politician is so good that the country cannot survive or thrive without them. There are millions of people who could do a good job in an elected office. We do not need to get attached to these people because they sure as heck are not attached to us in any meaningful way. Both parties have changed greatly in the past 50 years. Today's Repubs are about where Jack Kennedy was in 1960, as far as political philosophy goes. Today's Dems are WAY to the left of any other elected officials whom I can remember... except for Dennis Kucinich. The only folks to his left were Vladimir Lenin, Leon Trotsky, Joseph Stalin, and others of that ilk.

I feel like that dirty business starts earlier and earlier every election, seems like campaigning is almost constantly happening. At least for this election I think the 2012 hysteria could eat into a large time frame of the honeymoon period with a good drop in January if the world is still around

This is the second warning! This topic will be moved to General Discussion if this conversation deviates from precious metals, coins, or currency again.
CCF is not a political forum and politics tend to be a hot-button issue with many people. While there is a link between politics, coinage, and currency, discussions must remain on that subject exclusively to be in the coin or currency forums.

My theory is election year.....
I think PMZ are gonna soar regardless of who takes over command of the sinking ship....
And timeline speaking, we are aligned with the scene in Titanic where the band set up and played on the deck....

Being that I am starting my 7070 Gold page, I hope that PM goes down...for a while, so I can gather my pretties, then take off!

The last Presidential election I was in the hospital for quite sometime. I saw SO MANY election commercials. Last January, I bought shares of stocks in a media commercial company. It is now up by over half of the purchase price! Needless to say, the commercials do not bother me at all this time around.
When this election is over, i'll sell the stocks and buy more coins!
