morgans dad, would have or would've, not would of! Sorry, but I am required by law to correct that. The guarantee does not apply because they do not seal that slab. Its not theirs. They simply put the labels on it. A really patient person could get those labels off and apply them to another coin. It is nowhere near secure enough to guarantee it. I believe NGC has the same policy. I was hoping for a 68, but 67 is not unreasonable. I am very happy with it. He is now back in his box resting comfortably. dave, when I found out they graded the GSA CCs in their holders, I called and asked them if they did the same for the Ikes. I mean they are the same holders after all. Obviously they said send him on in, so I did. I would rather have it graded still in the OGP than lose that.

@smokeriderdon Thanks for sharing the pics. I like the Ike especially. This is the first I knew of them putting grade stickers on these also. And besides "would have," thanks for also knowing the difference between "loose: and "lose."

Too bad you sent the 22D no D to ANACS. They call DP 1,3 and 4 "weak D". NGC and PCGS both will certify these as "no D" coins.
Congrats anyway....the DP1 is a rare coin.

I'm impressed by the silver stack and 1931-S seen in the reflection of the 22 weak's slab!!

Bibd, that's actually behind the slab. The stack is actually BU 93 Kennedy's I am sorting through.
Thad, I know very little about the differences. You say D1 is rare. Aside from attribution terms between companies, is that the die pairing that produced what is known as the no D? Just trying to determine the value for my insurance records. And simply to learn.

Nice coins and a great find on the LWC. I have never noticed it on ANACs slabs before, so I don't know when they started to do it, but on the back. The label states the ANACS guarantee does not apply... Why are they stating that now, or is it just for a few specific coins?

Quote: ANACS guarantee does not apply Hello, a) So what specific benefit(s) does the buyer loose on these types of ANACS slabs w/o the inclusion of the guarantee? b) What % reduction in the resale value of the slab would one estimate that this disclaimer causes on average compared to a slab with a guarantee? c) What particular fact(s) or traits) of any coin would differentiate it enough to earn the distinction of including this disclaimer on the slab? d) Is this event also a common occurrence practiced by PCGS and/or NGC? mdpmedia

Quote: ANACS guarantee does not apply I believe that is because the dollar is still in the OGP and not in an official ANACS holder.

What jbuck said. That is the original government issue slab that the Ikes were issued in from 71-74. It is also the same slabs the government used for the GSA Morgans. Obviously these slabs are not as secure as the slabs that ANACS places coins in, so they do not guarantee the coins that are left in them. The plus to this is the coin is graded but does not lose the OGP, which for some folks, like me, is a plus. Also, as the coin is still in the original holder from the mint, no one can argue whether the toning is purposeful or accidental toning. The drawback is that the coin is not guaranteed. But as I said before, I understand why. NGC also grades GSAs like this (and I presume the Ikes as well) and I believe they dont guarantee either. PCGS does not grade coins in these holders. Coins in the ANACS holders obviously have their guarantee, or I am pretty sure they wouldnt slab them.

LOL no not a teacher. Just Neurotic about proper English. Aside from apostrophe use. I have a bad habit of not using them when I should. Don't get me started with people saying PIN number. Completely wrong and redundant. PIN stands for personal identification number. So saying PIN number is saying personal identification number number. Same with VIN and ATM.
That aside, the Ikes are one of my favorite coins, especially the silver ones.

Well said, SRD! Especially that last sentence. Back in the day, I banned a user for repeatedly saying "BBS system." I also used to go on and on how an "ATM machine" was actually a machine that made ATMs.
