For those saying the 8166 is just too heavy now you need to get to the gym more often. (Just kidding) Dansco is certainly dragging this out close to year end.

Yeah, that is my story. Quote: Dansco is certainly dragging this out close to year end. Maybe they know something that we do not. Maybe there will be no Kennedy half dollars for 2013 and beyond.

My Franklin halves album weighs a ton, but is, of course, only two pages. Those Danscos are beefy albums but of course they have a breaking point. Jeez, even the 8113 Jefferson album has some heft to it. And I definitely should get to the gym more!

Quote: I was wondering about that myself as I am close to finishing this one.Definitely cant add a page. HEy Smoker, the extra page does fit into the kennedy dansco. That will get you all 4 coins up to 2017, plus the p and d for 2018. Of course it just wont be printed on the page the years. Thats the only issue for me. I did my canadian cent collection in the blank cents dansco, thats what bugs me about that. I wrote those in with a pencil, not going to do that with the kennedy blank page.

Halfhunter, I use a ptouch label maker with clear labels in my blank quarter albums. It looks great and you can customize.

My sister new caligraphy at one point. I could get her to write in the years. It just didnt seem like there was enough room for another page. Quote:This thread was talking about the #8166 Kennedy half dollar album, talkcoin linked and is talking about #8814 Jefferson nickel Because I mentioned the Jefferson album because it is facing the same issue. Quote: The reason is that 2006 is a logical splitting point, because that was when the nickel received the permanent obverse change; it is a different series to some. This is like how they split the Wheat and Memorial cents. It allows people to collect one, the other, or both. However, they could have executed it better (sooner). jbuck, good point. BUT, as you pointed out, it should have been done sooner. They didnt even have to extend it to another album. The Lincoln album the page simply stops at 1958 with blank spots and the next picks up with the LMCs. No reason they couldnt have done the same for the Jeffs. Now I need to buy a whole new album plus a page. THEN go and pull all the coins in the current last page and redo them... pain in my butt AND an added expense. Not happy.

If they were really using the Lincoln as an example, they would offer both solutions. The Lincoln can live in one album (7100/8100) or separate albums (7103, 7102/8102, 7104/8104). I am not saying I agree with their choices, just trying to understand why they have made them.

I've talked to a couple of Dansco Retailers. All they seem to know is that Dansco will be doing a new album probably by year end. They have no idea what year it's going to start with.

Starting a new album six years after a logical break sure makes it seem like someone was asleep over at Dansco R&D department.

Quote: it seem like someone was asleep over at Dansco R&D department. On one hand I do agree that it would be great to have all our albums up to date and with a hole for each coin that we think should needed for our collection. On the other hand .. Dansco must be thinking. What is the U.S. Mint doing to my business. They change design on us, (cent and nickel). They add coins to a series, ATB park quarters. They do not make intended coins our albums have slots for, ASE proof eagles. I would wonder if the mint might be telling dansco about possible status of coins. Like maybe stop making a Kennedy half dollar or maybe some new possible type coins. Can you imagine spending a lot of money designing a new product and building up inventory, then seeing a mint change that will make that inventory not sell. I can imagine that Dansco is not very happy with the "S" mint ATB Quarters .. I know as a collector I would like to have a spot for them in my album. I also wish that Dansco had a spot for the 1998 S matte proof half dollar. Of course that would make that coin price jump to a much higher level. Maybe I should purchase a couple extra of those.

good idea, I may do that with my canadian cents album, since that set is done being minted. I will probably get more excited about it when I obtain the last 5 from the 20's I need. For the kennedys I will maintain my extra page for the coming years, see what dansco does, and also see if the mint does anything with the series.

Welllll, they will have to either come up with a new series, or a whole new reverse, or revert back to original or a whole new design for the quarter. So, the album has to end where it does now. So, at the end a page or pages can be added to accommodate the S mints. I hope.
