If it's in your possession, take it to a coin shop and have them look it over. Even if you have to drive a ways to get there. A coin like this needs to be held and studied to determine if it's real or not.

I think the grade is AT LEAST F-15. There is a complete and strong hairline, the jaw doesn't seem flat, some plumage on the eagle, strong rims and stars. It's not a VG coin IMO but, then again, my money's still on that it is fake.

That worked nicely.

All diagnostics for O-129 match and to tell you the truth, I don't see anything making me think it's a fake. Some of those diagnostics (the recut second S in STATES, the lump between UNITED and STATES) wouldn't be easy to counterfeit.

This is an R.5 variety, not unobtainable but scarcer than other 1795's. I'm arguing there's too much rim, hair and detail in the Eagle for much less than F15.

WOW! I was a complete sceptic that this was an authentic coin until the last pictures.

THAT is a nice coin! Unusual to be in such nice condition! (Another reason I had to suspect it!)

These pictures are much better. I would expect NGC-Fine details scratches-repaired worth about $1000. JMO

The second S in STATES is what I was waiting to see. Not just recut; it's over a D, which is diagnostic for the O-129. Those edge ornaments look like the period Castaing machine output of the early Mint, too. The cell phone pics hid those scratches well, though. Ouch.
You make the nice lady who owns this a fair deal, now! No trading it for a sack of cat food and a tube of denture cream!

It just doesn't look right to me. I guess I'm still skeptical. The letters on the reverse don't look right to me and overall it just looks grainy. Perhaps I'm wrong though. I still say take it somewhere to be sure.

Nice coin, esp those last pictures.

The others made the coin look cleaned & washed out
