That's a tough one. I'd have to go with the $.01

Dontcha hate it when a store advertises their price in decimals but uses the cents sign instead of the dollar sign? How are they gonna give me change for my penny? (Wink wink! j/k)

WIth the penny you get roughly more than a century of the same design which means they go unnoticed and the pickins are better. And the rotten people who sneak in foreign coins well that's fun too - it only costs a cent.

I'm going with nickels in the poll but its a close tie between pennies and nickels with dimes in very close second.
cents-lots of little things like wheats and canadians and bu's and older au's and then about 1/3 are coppers so its plenty of keepers.

nickels-its alot of fun to find War Nickels and looking for pre 1960's(especially those with mintages under 50 million) is usually pretty fun. early s mint mark nickels really get me going. plus the dream of the 1950 d and buffalos. a decent amount of keepers.

dime- it is such a huge rush to find a mercury and silver dimes. its addicting. I also really like the designs on dimes. however compared to pennies and nickels keepers are alot less frequent.

How can one not favor dimes? Just too much fun! Looks like dimes in the lead.

I like searching dimes for that glorious silver. I'm on a break for the last few months because with the discontinuation of the penny, I've focused on them exclusively to find the older dates for albums and pull a small stash of copper.

I chose Nickels for a couple of reasons, mainly because I don't think they are sorted through as much as Dimes, Quarters, and Halves. I am averaging about 1.5 silver Nickels per box, and the off chance of finding a Buffalo or the rare chance of finding a V nickel always keeps me excited every time I pick up a fresh box from the bank.

I have to go with pennies, because searching for silvers in my area is very close to totally unproductive. I'm sure there are one or more other CRHers using Ryedales in my area who've sucked the local coin pool dry of silvers.

Anyhow, these unseen silver vamp'ing CRHers haven't (yet) bothered with pennies---so I always average around 10 wheaties per box and I guess around 30% or 40% (?) coppers per box. I won't get rich doing this, but having at least some minor degree of success with every box isn't as frustrating as CRHing for silvers.

I like halves as it gives you the best shot at getting some free silver.

I'm glad that most of you don't favor nickels.

Although I mainly buy silver rounds I like the Canadian Wildlife series. I have the first two coins the Timber Wolf and Grizzly Bear. They have a $5 face value and are .9999 silver. Prices are now crazy like $30 over spot.

Cents are fun - I only had a skunked box once. For some reason I get very lucky and never get brand new boxes of cents. I usually get 15 to 20 wheaties per box. Dimes are ok but not much in there. Nickels are probably my second favourite - 1 War Nickel per box is the most consistent way to get silver - albeit a small amount of it!

Probably cents, because the copper to zinc ratio is better than the silver to clad ratio on the other denominations.
