2012 is the year I screwed myself over... Early in the year I gave my nephew my 2012 silver proof eagle as a graduation gift. I meant to replace it and never did. Then I found out they were sold out. Same goes for my proof and silver proof sets. I'd figure they never sell out, so I thought I had plenty of time. Oh we'll... Another lesson to be learned. I will now pay after market prices.

I missed out on the silver set too thinking id have all year. They probably could have sold a ton if they made an announcement theyd be gone in a week or a few days. Oh well some of the stuff really could use lower mintages or having a mintage limit set

Yes. Me too. 2011 was out there forever and lots of notice. Then a few days later boom 2012 pulled. I did get the silver quarters since I started with the 2010 in 2011 for gifts for nieces and nephews. Now I will have next year gift bought. I decided last year to do this instead of something they really don't need or money. At least this way they may save it instead of spend! I at leat can try to have them save

Quote: you should get the Limited Edition Set before it sells out! How much total weight in silver is in the set? Obviously the Silver Eagle is an ounce...do you know how much the rest of the coins weigh? I know the rest are only 90% silver but I'm just curious what the weight of the rest of the coins are. Thanks. Dave

The Limited Edition Set contains 2.3382 Troy Oz. total 1 ASE = 1.00 Oz. (weights listed below are for the coins' silver content) 5 Quarters = 0.9042 Oz. (5 times .1808 Oz. for each coin) 1 Half-Dollar = 0.3617 Oz. 1 Dime = 0.0723 Oz. $149.95 USD divided by 2.3382 Oz. = $64.13 USD/Oz.

Quote: jdubbs, you should get the Limited Edition Set before it sells out! Then you'll have the 2012-W Proof ASE and all the 90% Silver coins in the 2012 Silver Proof Set. With the 2012 Silver Proof Sets fetching $100+ on the bay and the Eagle around $70, $149.95 is now the best deal if you missed out on getting those. http://www.ebay.com/itm/130830842983/ Silver Set, bidding ended at $123.50 http://www.ebay.com/itm/251209801739/ Clad Set, bidding ended at $61 DNA- Arrghh!! I'm weird I have every proof set/eagle since 1999. If I buy the limited edition set, that will mess up my "flow" of items. I'll be missing the rest of the proof set and Presidential dollars. I called a coin shop in my area and they are selling them for 96$ a set. This weekend I'll probably go buy it. I just decided to sign up for the subscription service through the mint, so I don't have to worry anymore.

Quote: I'm weird I have every proof set/eagle since 1999. Not weird for a CCF member. I have all Proof ASE's issued from 1986 to 2012 (sorry, no Daniel Carr 2009 re-strike!), and all Silver Proof Sets from 1992 to 2012. I'm glad your LCS has a decent deal! I know what you mean about "flow". When I put my new 2012 Clad Proof Set in the safe, I looked at it like "what's that doing in there?" More ebay craziness: I'd be a little more confident about this 2012 Silver Proof Set auction if the pictures were of a Silver Set instead of a CLAD Set...

Other than the seller's 1 feedback, it looked legit. Someone got a good deal at 60 dollars if it goes through.

Quote: SilverTowne has the set for $43.95 + FREE SHIPPING Is that the silver proof set? My 2010 set is in a red box (which I though the silver ones were usually in) and the description on the box says "silver proof set" as well. Thanks. Dave

Sorry, it's not the silver and since the thread is about the clad set, it makes sense. The post by jdubbs confused me a little because he posted an ebay link to a silver set. It's all good. Thanks. Dave
