@Dcadon: The question would be how much of the historical gold/silver ratio was due to gold prices being held down by the gold standard?

The ratio hit 100:1 about a decade ago. In the bear market. So I see nothing to indicate it will return to the gold standard ratio.

Quite surprised to see these hockey coins still kicking around. Thought they'd sell out already! No one buying these coins, maybe?

20 4 20 became less popular since RCM stops free shipping, plus hockey is not widely practiced internationally

I just saw a full page ad taken out by the mint in the latest CAA magazine. It's on the first page.

"The Royal Canadian Mint pays tribute to Hockey, Canada's national pastime, with its latest coin. This best selling series sells out rapidly! Orders limited to three per household while supplies last."

"Order now, it's fast and easy"

I suppose RCM is appealing to a particular demographic with this. Even my dad who isn't into coins asked me whether I was getting this one since he thought the $20 for $20 seemed like a good deal.

Hey cookiecutter, the last time there was a full page ad in the CAA magazine for the 20 for 20 there was a free shipping code in the ad - was there any free shipping code on that ad?

No, I don't think they offer the free shipping code on these at all anymore. It's too bad because shipping adds a pretty high percentage to the overall cost of buying one.

It's not to bad if you order 3 of them or other stuff to but if just ordering 1 ya it's alot.

If you buy other stuff it is more reasonably, but if you are only looking for the $20 for $20 (even if you buy 3 coins) you are still looking at $7.99 in shipping (I think this was the amount people were saying that they were charged).... which works out to $22.67 per coin (a 13% increase in the price).

if someone want just 1 coin, I would suggest go to the post office. It is 25$ but still cheaper than ordering a solo coin from the mint..

I'd sell one for cheaper than the post office, with free shipping.
