Quote: are you referring to dino coins or pennies? I'm referring to penny rolls. A dealer that is listed on the RCM's website as a dealer has been selling penny rolls for 24.99 since Tuesday. They routinely list virtually all of their RCM products above list price so I have difficulty believing that there is any rule about pricing imposed by the RCM. I suspect that most dealer keep their prices at RCM issue because they know their customers will simply buy from the mint.ca if they don't at least match that price - market forces at play. If dealers try to gouge customers by overcharging on items that the mint is selling for less, how long do you think they would stay in business? Of course that doesn't account for the dealer selling $10 items for $25 but I suspect he/she is either hoping to find uninformed customers or is just pricing to maintain inventory for when the market does command higher prices (i.e. after the mint sells out).

sporadic case can not represent the 'rule' which majority will stick with.
Not necessary to explain more when a good example (Gate-west) stick with such 'rule' and start to raise the price after official sold out.

You're free to believe whatever you wish but the fact is if the RCM has a rule as you assert, and one of their dealers routinely disobeyed that rule, then a logical person would expect the RCM to act. I maintain that dealer pricing is set by economics. If you have some information to the contary that you can support with facts, please share it.

i contacted the RCM regarding this pricing issue with regards to the farewell to penny sets . About 3 weeks ago I got an amazing phone from the director of dealers issue, he told me they have policies in place where the dealers are to hold prices at issue untill the RCM is soldout, but the RCM choose not to enforce it. So most of the dealers knows this and they either hold back hot items or instantly raise prices except for canada post and J&M. Can you imagine GM,Ford, Macdonalds, allowing their dealers to charge above msrp. The reps logic was its too hard to enforce,

How hard would it be to enforce? If they see them selling above issue price they get banned, simple. They obviously don't really care.

Dealer is not an enemy, dealer helps mint to sell their stuff (and not all of this stuff is sold out in days). And there's no lineup at RCM's door with "dealer sign-up" sign. SO it does not make much business sense to ban dealers over minor offence. But if situation for any reason becomes ugly and there will be mass outrage over dealer behaviour - RCM has a legalstick to beat "bad guy" :)

remember the Orangeville Mazda situation about 2 years ago when they took advantage of a female shopper sold her a car over 12000.00 above msrp. Mazda canada did the right thing immediately cancels the dealership and refunded the purchases price and gave the car to the lady. I dont think any owner of a good dealership or franchise would risk it over a few extra dollars. In the RCM case they are allowing a free for all except for the two mentioned dealers

I have bought a new 'vette when they first come out, and there's a model change.. Expect to pay way over MSRP to be one of the first. Like this year. This is common on luxury cars.

Quote: Expect to pay way over MSRP to be one of the first. Like this year Absolutely true. And the 2014 Corvette Stingray looks like it's going to command huge premiums. This is also a good example because it's a low production (i.e. limited mintage) item. Dealers can and do charge more because supply is significantly less than demand. Same thing with some coins.
