Important missive to jbuck:

Good sir, please send me another PT (personal telegraph) regarding the Gem Uncirculated 1901-S Liberty Head Quarter in my Pocket It Now auction. Your original message ended up in my Snake Oil folder, and I deleted it by accident.

Thank you, DNA

I do not think that came from me. I suspect it went to your snake oil folder for a reason.

if the Internet had existed in the 1920's (and SPAM lunchmeat hadn't been invented yet), we might have had a much cooler name for junk e-mail.

I do wonder how much the Unc. 1901-S Barber would have fetched in the early 1920's!

My father just got home from working at Ford with his paycheck. He was all excited because they made him the lead
designer on the new car coming out, he said it was going to be called the Edsel. Does anybody know what the heck
an Edsel is? When he cashed his paycheck at the bank they gave him $20.00 in 1921 Peace dollars in a roll. He couldn't believe
somebody would do that so he just tossed them in his drawer full of socks and said he wouldn't go back to that bank again.

I've been looking at those ads in the newspaper offering to pay $50 for any 1913 Liberty nickel. I've got the entire family looking; we can live for weeks on that!

Not me. I'm investing all my money in the stock market. Even Groucho Marx says I can't lose.

Tell your dad to pick up the pace at that Edsel drawingboard, Freedom. At the rate he's going, they won't roll out that car until... I don't know... 1957? :)

Roll searching would not be that much different.
The silver value in the coins is less than the face value, so you still go for the scarce coins.

Here in Australia I'd be searching all my 1916 halfpennies with an English obverse instead of the usual Latin obverse.
There's probably a few low mintage sovereigns and half sovereigns from that era too but I'd likely only be able to afford to keep the halfpennies.

I'm going to have to quit collecting gold proof coins, they are getting too expensive, I almost had to pay double face for that new Saint Gaudens HR $20 with the wire rim!

On the plus side, I hear by 1934 gold will be really cheap again!

(it was cheap, just illegal to own by then).

Downside? Paying $500.00 for a 1903-O Morgan dollar - paying with brand new $20.00 gold Saints to get it from your dealer!
