jbuck, my only problem is that I REALLY like the way my page breaks are lined up right now. Only the half dollars spill across multiple pages and adding any more coins is going to mess up my scheme.
I know, I know... good problem to have!

Cheezy, I will also take you up on the offer for the Word File. Great idea!

Maybe just give the commemorative coins their own page. Choose your top 20 half dollars and dollars.

How about large sized Capped Bust quarter and dime? These are my favorite and I've always wished they would have slots for these coins. The quarter can get expensive if you go to VF, but they still look really nice at Fine or even problem free VG IMO. The dime shouldn't be difficult to find at a reasonable price.

Here are my random thoughts: 1. I always thought it was weird that 7070 would include a variety as obscure as a VDB penny and NOT have a slot specifically for a post-'82 zinc coated penny. I'm glad you included that, but the label should be Copper-Zinc, not Copper-Nickel. 2. If I had to choose between two different Seated Liberty dollars and one SLD and a Flowing Hair dollar, I would be tempted to pick the latter since the prices aren't that far off. 3. You are displaying ONE example of Statehood Quarters, ALL of the modern penny and nickel varieties, but NONE of the Sacagawea varieties. That seems inconsistent. I applaud your effort. Please take my comments in the constructive manner they are intended. Good luck and show us a progress update from time-to-time. I really like this idea!

Maybe that means I should just add both! Quote:3. You are displaying ONE example of Statehood Quarters, ALL of the modern penny and nickel varieties, but NONE of the Sacagawea varieties. That seems inconsistent. Yeah, I struggled with this one too. I have all of the quarter varieties in their own folder, so I didn't want to duplicate it in my type album. Regarding the small dollars, at a minimum perhaps I should rename the existing one "Sacagawea Eagle Reverse" and add a "Sacagawea Native American Reverse" slot. The tweaking never ends, which is part of the fun of having my album put together this way! Speaking of, I really need to get pictures posted of my and my daughter's progress on this thing up here for you all! At my last count we have ~60 holes filled so far.

Well, folks, it's been a few months since I last visited this topic. The summer was crazy busy for me! I've put more thought into the layout of my "custom 7070" album and made more tweaks. I had all the modern coinage at the end, similar to the way Intercept Shield did theirs. Then I got to thinking that really makes no sense as I'm master of the page order here. So, I integrated all modern coins back into their respective sections. I also added a few types based on recommendations. Please review my latest album pages and let me know what you think! Am I missing anything else? (PS, yes it irks me that I had to let the small cents and nickels spill over onto the next pages but it is what it is. )

I like it. Since you have the 40% Silver Kennedy half dollar, you could add a place for the 40% Silver Eisenhower dollar. You could take it a step further and add the 40% Silver for the three Bicentennial coins. That is as far as I will go. If I do not stop, you might end up with an extra page or three.

It's so hard to decide where to stop, jbuck! I considered the 40% Ike, then decided against it since the 40% Kennedys were circulated and the 40% Ike was NIFC. Then I realized that the Presidential dollars are now NIFC. And Commems are NIFC also but have a spot in there. I guess this shows again how nice it is to be able to change my album labels whenever I want. I had another idea, which was to print high quality photos of the older/rarer coins that I don't own instead of just having blank slots in my pages. If I were to do that, I could add all kinds of late 1700s coins that I'd never own outright. The challenge would be printing the coins at actual size... Hmm....

...turns out there is a way to print coin images in exact size with little effort. I can just copy the images from this wonderful site's Coin Facts, paste them into a Word document, change the ruler to mm instead of inches, and resize away!
My type album may very quickly be "filled", albeit with pictures for the pricey ones.

cheezyfryes,
I agree with your assessment of the 40% Kennedys versus the 40% Ikes. 40% Kennedys were the norm from '65 to '70. On the other hand, 40% Ikes were special issues (NIFC) of the same coin issued as clad.
The Prez. dollars shouldn't be a problem for you in a Type Set album. Just because the recent issues are NIFC, you can easily find early examples (e.g. Washington through Lincoln) that were released. The only catch is to be sure to get an example from a mint roll instead of a Mint Set since the Mint Sets from 2005-2010 had a special satin finish that was NOT released for circulation.
I really like where you are going with this!

Maybe a suggestion, you could find a way to divide each page with its own artistic design.
