Very nice coin. I had began to wonder if the War Nickels were ever white even when freshly minted since everyone I have ever come across is horribly dark and greasy.

I changed the original title; The 38499 1943/2-P 5C DDO FS-101 (FS-028) is a little bit more of a rarer bird than the ordinary 1943/2-P, with 26 (non-FS) in all grades and four ( three 65's and one 67) higher certified through PCGS. http://www.pcgs.com/Cert/26405581 I am still pumped about this one...although it will be on "Lay-A-Way" for a couple of months.

If you want to get technical about it; 38499 1943/2-P 5C DDO FS-101 (FS-028) {26 PCGS Graded coins} 38500 1943/2-P 5C DDO FS-101 (FS-028), Full Step {5 PCGS graded coins} ...then there are the "ordinary" 1943/2-P 4019 1943/2-P 5C {438 PCGS Graded coins} 84019 1943/2-P, Full Step {97 PCGS Graded Coins} http://www.pcgs.com/pop/detail.aspx?c=84

Yes, but the "ordinary" one IS a doubled die- that is how the overdate was created(Class 3 Design Hub Doubling). The FS number should apply to every 1943/2-P as confirmed by the CONECA Master Listings, regardless of whether the FS number is listed on the slab or not. PCGS will list Red Book varieties without an extra attribution fee while adding the FS number incurs the attribution fee. I am not sure why someone would pay extra for the FS attribution because I see that as being rather redundant. http://varietyvista.com/Variety%20M....htm#_1943-P
