leave it to ccf to go the extra mile nice.
liove the look of that one might check around a bt more but thats definitely one to consider.
and may I add another aspect to this question
my grandfathers birthday is coming up and I want to find a nice
holed large cent to make him a necklace.
what is a good price to pay for a recognizeable holed large?
i know its a depending question I'm just looking for an average.
he loves morgans and Peace dollars but he has never even heard of the large cents and I thought
it would be an awesome present

Heh. He posted while I was thinking (the same thing).

My guess is, your goal is doable for a slabbed XF40 from (generally) 1840-1854-ish. If you're careful about your shopping, get a good strike and nice color, these are some of the most attractive coins minted in the XF range. If you've a good feel for the grade, you'll find better deals in ICG and ANACS slabs.

If you're attentive and a bit lucky, an AU Details version can be found in that price range. Some are occasionally found looking so nice one wonders why it got into a Details slab.

I agree 1850s Braided hair cents are nice and can be had relatively inexpensive. I am not familiar with slabbed versions and what they cost but this would be the years to look for.

if you need to pull the trigger soon, I think the NGC VF30 coin above is a nice selection. you are going to be hard pressed to find a slab at a higher grade in that price range. if you have a little time, I would just keep an eye out. there are always LC's for sale!

That I'm not sure, for what its worth the good looking ones on ebay seem to go for around 10 dollars.

For some reason, holed large cents are usually sold in groups. So you should be able to make a necklace and earrings.

I wear earrings (4, to be exact), and I'm not very enthusiastic about dangling something the weight of a Large Cent from my earlobe.
