i was thinking of starting a merc. album. I just bought a roll of the stuff a while back, and it'll go nicely with the fact that I have a 1916-P (ag03) to start it off. Silver is on the rise, so no way I'm selling just yet.

The 1916d is the reason I never did this set as I don't think I would ever complete it, love mercs and want to do AU and MS and man even that alone is expensive without throwing in the 16d.

FadetoBlack: https://goccf.com/t/153366&whichpage=2 nice buy on the 11-D and 11-S Lincoln's for $45.00 as the 11-S alone retails for that.

The nice thing about those old Library of Coin Albums is that they tone up coins nicely. If you ever are at a show and you see a dealer have the one or more of the three Barber series in these albums and they have obviously been in there for years LOOK at those coins right then and now. This will give you an idea of what that kind of tone is and you will remember how to spot it so you can buy it.

Any idea for a cost for the "better" album? I'm trying to put together a AU/BU Dansco Merc Album, and was just curious if you had a rough avg price/coin.

Really a tuff question. Especially when you get to ones like the 16D, 21, 21D and even the 26S. 42/41 and 42D/41 too are excessive in costs. By the way why not use a Whitman Classic Album like I do. I keep forgetting this is a Dansco Forum.
Fantastic going there 52Raymo. Going to make a great Album. No place for the 42D/41?

Oddly enough you would be amazed at how many 16D's appear at coin shows. Even at some of the smaller coin shows I go to, I always see a few of them. At some of the larger shows, I've seen as many as 10 to 20 of them. Naturally the main problem would be to not take a chance with one not in a slab. And even then, with all the fake slabs, that too is not an easy thing to try for.
I'm trying to put together a complete set of Mercury dimes with all FSB's. Long way to go. And from what I'm finding out, the 45 will be the costliest one of all.

No, there's no spot for the 42D/41 but I do have some extra holes at the end that I could put one in and I might do that. I put an extremely worn Merc in one of the holes just because I liked the looks of it and it had obviously been circulating for a long time.

Old-Merc-Album...

Quite possibly a 16-D...

Not sure if you mentioned you had a slot for the 45 Micro S, but if not, you could use the slots at the end for one.
Or pending on how many slots at the end are empty, continue on with Roosevelt dimes. 46, 47, etc.

Yes it had an empty hole for the micro s, filled now. Had to buy another 38-S that got stolen in Topeka. Should get it later this week.
