Supply & demand my friend :)
When they're this rare and this nice, they're worth top book value regardless of the "market".
If this coin sells for under $3,000 buyer will have made themselves a great buy as vintage rarities like this will only continue to appreciate in value as time goes by.
I'm guessing that when we wake up in the morning it will have sold for at least that much.

No returns ... yikes on the photos with hands holding he coin ... IMHO the seller could have done much better to present this example in a better way.

Unless it's in a ICCS or PCGS holder, I'd be real careful. Too many Chinese counterfeits nowadays.

Agreed - seller is in the Netherlands - possibly may not know value of this coin. Certainly mistaken in his handling of it and manner of portraying it in listing. Also, should have scheduled this auction to end at 9:00 PM Eastern coast time on Sunday nite, not 3:00 AM on Saturday morning I've enhanced and enlarged the photos, and have examined closely - it is genuine.

Great enhancement of this coin. I see the seller made mention about the rims, however, I.C.C.S. would "NOT" give this coin a negative comment concerning the rims. The rims on this coin are just fine and not detracting from it's beauty. The rims are consistent wish Victorian nickels in grades of AU-50 and below. I palced a $1K U.S. bid on this beauty and would out bid soon after, so I think it may go for over $2,500 U.S. judging by the amount of bidders there are. The seller purchased this coin for a mere $150.00 Euros and claimed not one person at the auction was interested in it. How ironic! Glenn

With those rims I'd never pay 3K for it.
Glenzy1 I believe has placed what I would call a 'maximum' bid of $2500 for this coin (I still think that's pushing it though).

We have seen several examples in recent weeks of nice Canadian coins picked up for a song overseas.

Scotts Canadian Coins ..Thanks for the enhancement. That is one tough coin. I hope that someone here gets it .... and then hopefully we'll get to see it up close and in detail..(I'm hoping) Large Date is the tougher one to find...and..I don't have one... Hard to believe that those are the only pics offered for a coin of that value and rarity.. . . .

Unfortunately, I've maxed by budget this month and purchased three nice coins already. I would love to have bought this one, however, one has to realize not everything your heart desires can be had. Glenn

Around $1723.42 Canadian plus shipping. Not bad for the winner.
Was it anyone here?
