All the coins listed as suspected counterfeits are mine. I'm the same seller who was offering the 1901 Indian Head cent that was in question yesterday. I hope list members looked at the photos I posted that I believe don't show any metal above the second T in STATES. As I said yesterday, I am going to show that coin to my local dealer and will submit if for certification.

I'm a collector of 40 years who buys coins on ebay to resell to pay for my hobby. All the coins that list members are questioning are individual purchases from other ebay sellers in the last month or so.

I am certainly no "huckster" as one list member suggested (I'm a Lutheran minister who takes my good name, and ebay feedback very seriously). I am a bit incredulous to think that almost every coin I have purchased in the past month is a counterfeit.

Out of respect for the group I will remove the coins in question from ebay and show them, as well, to my local dealer.

Paul - I commend your for being so cool!

I cannot speak for any coin other than the 1928 Lincoln, which I believe to be authentic. Your picture is TOO WELL lit. The picture is over-exposed. I don't know the original size, but the Lincoln image posted has a lot of granularity in it....looks to be due to processing. When you have too much light, it will cut through the patina and make the coin look funky.

You can ask for help in the photography forum here. We have a lot of good folks here to help. Better ebay photos will help you sell more coins.

Here's another attempt at photographing the 1928 Lincoln. With the color and luster it's hard to get a good shot of it. It does have a wood-grain tone to it.

Take #2. The previous image was too big.

That's a nice coin! I'd call it 64RB but it looks like there's a scratch in the right, obverse field. If that's not a scratch, it would slab as 63RB with any of the major TPGs.

It is a light scratch above the date.

I'm not the most computer literate and don't know how to change my settings. I could use some instructions on that. Thanks.

I actually had the coin sitting in the shadows with my natural light lamp shining off to the side. Photographing lustrous silver and bronze coins is still part of my learning curve that has not been mastered.

I've sent the 1928 Lincoln Cent to BadThad from the group so he can photograph it and post his opinion on it.

I took the 1891 Seated Liberty dime to my local coin dealer today. He has 35 years experience in the business. He examined and weighed the coin. The weight is correct and he said the coin is an authentic mint product. It has been whizzed and retoned, which I did not detect. (I still have a lot to learn about US coins.) I've contacted the ebay seller from whom I purchased the coin and will return it.

The 1928 Lincoln Cent looks a lot better with the new pics. Glad your returning the 1891 dime, that one bothered me, real or not it just didn't look right.

I hope you stick around, it really is a nice place and we are pretty nice folks.

I have learned a lot from the members here and it was the best thing I ever did by joining.

so....

Paul sent me the 1928 Lincoln for examination. It's a very nice MS-63RB coin and the pictures can be found here:

https://goccf.com/t/166750

It's definitely authentic and original. The only problem I could see is a light scratch on the obverse, right field which looks like it's from s staple. Paul is an honest, stand-up guy based on my conversations with him.
