Have you convinced your friend to check the rest of his coins?

the sealed box was opened underneath a video camera. So it is quite evident that the box was sealed by the seller before being opened.

Now THAT is a LCS I would love to patronize.

So, need some help.
I am trying to find the sale that my friend did.
I am searching on 1937 Proof sets on ebay, selecting completed or sold listings, yet I can't find it... and I keep forgetting to ask him.

Help?

It would have been a 1937 set in a box, sale price > 3800.00 within the last month.
FOUND IT SEE NEXT POST

The only thing I see that sold recently in a box that is close to the price you stated is a 1937 proof set, http://www.ebay.com/itm/1937-US-Sil...047675.l2557.

the latest news... is ebay told the buyer to send the coins back to the seller, the seller has 3 days to refund, if they don't ebay will refund on behalf of the seller.

Sounds to me like it is a winner....

apparently the seller is still at it.
There are some (to me) legit sets, and some more "Sealed, never opened, double taped" sets, in nice new boxes.
Compare the image some of the legit ones with the sealed never opened ones.. notice the box and tape has not faded with age at all.
For that not to happen, they would have had to been stored in a vacuum.

Take a look at the 1941 set this seller is selling. The box is opened. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1941-US-Sil...em3a8a1016d6

To me, the nickel, dime and quarter look unciculated not Proof. The cent I don't know. However, look at the half dollar--there is wear on the gown covering the left leg and it looks polished.

I wouldn't trust this seller, but that's just me.

You know, the FIRST clue should be that the ballpoint pen used to write on the package? That wasn't PATENTED until 1938 in Hungary. Commercial manufacturing started in 1943 in Argentina. US sales didn't start until after the war. Most of those early pens were failures. It wasn't until the 50s that they became widely available...
