A bid in at $40 is decent, considering you're only getting the D of the '68 mint set...you could always try to get it for a tad bit cheaper (you're not dealing with ebay, you know) and offer $30-35 first, so that you could then counter with $40 if he refuses such an offer, but that's all up to you. Or...you could try to get the sets cheaper on ebay by playing the auctions. Odds are that you'll get lucky, eventually. Edited by Groszy

Checking with parents is always a good idea when dealing with a minor.
At thirteen you would have trouble selling as well. Long gone are the days
when a high school student could sell at a show.
I bought a 20 dollar gold piece for $35 from a fellow high school student and sold if for $70 a few years later during the first increase of gold bullion prices.
I think that you have the situation well in hand.
PS. Offer $35!

Uncirculated as in MS coins. My grandmother is offering him 50 for even more coins with the ones I mentioned. A few more 40% Kennedy halvessome V nickels, Buffalos, and 6 or 7 Ike dollars |

Why does my age determine anything in this? I looked up average values, and it was around $40, so I was just seeing if it was a good offer to start with, or if I needed to adjust it.

We're about the same age, CoinCollector.
I have to agree with the others, I would be a bit happier at $30-$35. Market value equals about $40, from what I've seen, and I don't really like paying exact price for a numismatic item.
Your choice, though.

Okay, so my grandmother went ahead and made a deal with the fellow (Whose actually in his early- 20s. He looked so teenish though!)before I could talk to her. She bought the ones I mentioned, plus 4 more 40% Halves, a few V nickels and 7 Ike dollars. |
