Howell1018, I believe the Gold Kennedy half sales figures are substantially less than that. As of yesterday morning, the figures were as follows: Kennedy Gold 63,521 +1,180. Since the strong first day sales, which were followed by many, many returns, sales have been about 1,000 per week. The mint spokesman stated they have an existing blank capacity for 75,000 units with a first mintage of 40,000 having already been struck and a subsequent weekly capability to produce 6,000 units. Based on current sales trend (and severely week e-bay resales figures!), they should be able to meet demand quite easily. I received my 2 coins which I ordered at 1:04 on opening day this afternoon from UPS. Couldn't be happier. Even though they qualify for first strike, I am opting to keep them in the OGP. And kudos to the Mint for having enough product and quickly shipping it to avoid a repeat of the BHOF fiasco.

I read MNB regularly and have found it very informative. That being said, CCF is my home base!

Quote:I just got my 8/25/14 issue of Coin World that has a front page article on the gold Kennedys. This article has led me make several new conjectures based on sales figures for THE FIRST THREE DAYS. Sales for the first three days only approximate 180,000 with very close to 60,000 sold each of the first three days As Singer stated 63,521 sold in 12 days

The 60k figure certainly seems more plausible. Maybe I misread the Coin World article. According to the mint, I ordered the coin at 1:13, and I also received mine yesterday. Coin looks flawless to me. Debating as to whether or not to have it slabbed. I won't be selling it for years, by which time I don't think the presence of a first release sticker will matter. For those who care about such matters, I thought the packaging was some of the nicest, if not the nicest I've ever seen.

My CC just got charged on Friday so I expect it sometime before Labor Day. Looking forward to it. Interestingly I'll end up getting that one long before my UNC sets.

It arrived yesterday and is stunning. @Singer, I agree, the presentation case is fantastic.
This was a one-off for me but I think I'm going to have to get a 2nd job so I can start buying other gold coins now!
