I'll keep this thread going. I am buying another partial set this evening. It will upgrade several issues from 1929 to 1934. From 34 on everything in the set is AU/BU, so I'll discern whether or not any of the coins from 34 to 45 are better than those in my collection.
I think I'm gonna find me an old Kodak easyshare camera. That little camera took lots better pics of coins than this 200 dollar Fuji I got. I just don't like it.

Here are some pictures of the partial set I bought tonight. I sold off a roll of quarters and a roll of half dollars to finance the purchase. I basically bought it for the 1930 and 31 issues since the rest of my collection is pretty comparable. There may be a few upgrades here, but when I sell this one off most of it will look as it does now ... except for the 30 and 31 issues. Included, but not shown is a 45 micro-S in comparable condition. Chance

I figure I'm into this for the long haul. Some of the early ones, even besides the 16-D and 1921 issues ... will be tough.

Everything I'd purchased has arrived, and I swapped coins into and out of albums for a few hours. This is my top tier set. I wish I were a better photographer. These pictures, even before being compressed, don't do the collection justice. I used surprisingly few coins from the last set I bought. Many of the specimens I already had were better. Chance

I really like the old album. The slides are much easier to use than anything made since. They're better constructed than anything that's been produced of late.
The last issue, unmarked, is the 45 micro-S

I had a feeling it was the micro s. Now you need that 16-D.

I'll be working on this set for a long time. The 16-D will require a lot of luck, the kind of luck nobody has any business believing they'd have. Still, even if I'm only able to get the set to all AU/BU coins besides the big 3 ... that would be quite an achievement, and it would be a collection I could live with.
The lousy photography really stinks. There are several of the coins that are BU, but you'd never know it from these pictures. The 38-D is probably a 66 FSB. You'd never know it from it's mug shot.
