I used it for a week so far and never lose There are submittal/recieval delays and other discrepancies so you can still lose even with something so precise (Although I'm not sure you need something that precise). I usually prepare 3 bids for any auction. Bid 1: Lowball bid, something like $15 on a $400 coin so it stays on my auctions list and I don't forget. Bid 2: Semi-High Bid, something like 70%-85% of my max bid which I enter with 20 secs left. Bid 3: Max Bid, Which I enter with 2-3 secs left. I don't use a bid sniper and it's worked out just fine for me so far. My logic is, if I get outbid at the last second it won't matter because at that point my max bid would've been exceeded anyway and I wouldn't be willing to pay the price necessary to win the coin from the person using the bid sniper.

I find it very interesting that the bidder jacking up many of the bids on this seller's coins appears to be the same bidder that is sending up the bids on the 1893-S. https://goccf.com/t/184158Coming from the world of Naval Intelligence (oxymoron I know), I tend to discount coincidence. Either the bidder is an idiot or nefarious!

By posting his phone number doesn't that violate ebay listing rules?

Jimbucks I think phone numbers are against ebay rules. ebay seems to turn a blind eye to this. (A LOT) Buyers who are swayed to think the RAW coin is a MS66-77 because he wrote in on the 2X2 are beyond help. Those buyers richly deserve what they bid on. Down side in this is for buyers who know the true worth and are forced to pay more or lose the coin. Same for shill bidding. Quote:1899-O Uncirculated +++ Beautiful Original Tone Premium Coin and very scarce Morgan dollar. I wish I had the time and money to send every coin off for certification but I don't. This is a nice coin that will grade very High Mint State. This is a SUPER TONE Dollar. I could not catch the beauty of this coin with the camera A Must See to Believe!! Galleria Coin Buyers Houston, Texas 832-703-6866 14 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE NO QUETSIONS ASKED. However, You won't return the coin because it is just to nice and you won't be disappointed. All of my auctions offer a 14 day money back guarantee. Please don't come to me after this because I will not have a coin out of my hands any longer than this. 14 days is plenty of time for an inspection of a coin purchased. There have been some attempted switch arooo's on me and I will not stand for it. STAFF, if I have violated any CCF rules on this post, please just void it. Thanks

It's sad to say, but ebay seems to be turning into a glorified Craigslist.

He has a lot of nice coins listed. At least they look real! On the grading he is probably running at least 3 to 5 points too high. The 89-CC he has listed as AU/UNC but looks XF cleaned to me. If he was sure the coins would TPG as high as he says they would, he would find the money to get them graded. Trust me.

As far as his statement about not having the money to send them for grading, if its a big dollar coin, wouldnt you? My grandfather left me with over 400 gold coins and hundreds of silver coins. I did the math a few months ago and it would cost 10's of tgousands of dollars to get graded. What I just started doing is having experts (like you guys) tell me what is worthy of grading. Those are what I send. The rest wont matter what grade, they are a little over melt. I would never try and sell a high dollar coin, potentially worth thousands graded, for a $100 and using excuses why I cant grade it. I do a handful a month in case I want to sell. you cant trust anyone

He knows it will TPG lower. He has more to gain by just writing MS66-67 on the 2X2. And the bidding proves that. He seems to be doing a good job, on sucking in the less educated, newbies, ignorant, and auction fever nut jobs. And of course this is at the cost to the better educated etc., etc.

The uninformed auction blockers on ebay are one of the many annoying things about ebay, at least as far as numismatics is concerned. I prefer to bid on coins with high res straight shots as well as photos of the same coin at an angle. I never, ever pay attention to what is written on the 2x2. I just can't understand how people accept this. Heck, we aren't supposed to just automatically accet the grade on a professional TPG label, are we? Hehe.

This happens with lower value coins all the time too. My first coin I bought on ebay (just a few months ago) came in a coin flip with "GEM BU" written on it. It was a fantastic probably MS-64 WLH. Assuming this was the norm, I bid and won a Franklin half labelled "GEM GEM BU++" and "Key Date" on the 2x2. It turned out to be a XF coin at best that may have been cleaned. Looking at the sellers other auctions, I saw EVERY coin they listed, said "GEM BU++" and "KEY DATE". Fortunately that was only a $10 mistake to teach me to look CLOSELY at the coin. But I'm sure a lot of rookies have to get taken advantage of a time or two before they realize ebay is full of people with no conscience. Fortunately there are a lot of good dealers on ebay, too, but you have to be careful.

As an ebay seller who prides himself on honesty in listing and selling practices, it irritates me to no end that shilling is quasi-allowed, and that you can write whatever you want for grades on raw material. I am always tempted to just join the pack and start ripping people off, but my moral compass prevents me from doing so. I won't stoop that low for money.

I think some of the bigger ebay sellers are going towards where they don't state a grade unless the coin is certified. Probably because it reduces negative feedbacks
