'Dutch' Everyone needs someone to give them a little push now and then. It is difficult to make the leap and acquire that special something without someone giving you a second opinion that you are doing the right thing ! In my case my 'dealer' friend Lou who insisted send him $100 a month and "If you change your mind ...... I give you credit back" How could a young man resist ? I was seduced

This would be my most expensive. A JC denarius would be a distant second.

Beautiful 'Theo' !
I have never yet managed up the courage to buy a gold ancient. Exception being a Justinian which someone had long ago set in a bezel ...... But those don't count really

I dont have a ready pic of my most expensive Roman but the republican roman I have spent the most on is my avatar. I probably paid too much for it actually but I am a sucker for 'rainbow' toning on ancient silver. M. Plaetorius Cestianus

Wow, Priscus Attalus. That doesn't strike me as an irresponsible purchase, more like a brilliant investment if you can afford it.

This is still the coin I paid the most for, I tend not to seek out the more expensive coins when buying: Macrianus Minor, usurper 260-261AD. They aren't super expensive and I no longer own the coin, If I remember rightly I sold it for around £1 more than I paid having had it for about 5 years, its still my avatar.

Quote:All the coins near the bottom of this interactive map were costly... and thankfully I still have them! http://www.tantaluscoins.com/coins/grid164.php Strange how you don't seem to have a Leo I though... I've lately felt that his coins are a lot less rare than the reports say. I mean, I have a Leo I coin, and I paid maybe six bucks for it... Maybe your Leo I coin is awful, and you feel it doesn't deserve the place?
